My name is Sarah Kangas, and I live in Mussoorie, India, which is located in the foothills of the Himalayan mountains. I graduated from Keene State College (Keene, NH) in December 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a K-12 NH certification.
I decided to major in physical education because of my passion for sports, adventure, and desire to work with children. Growing up rural NH, I had a huge playground of opportunity at my fingertips. Often times, after-school activities consisted of baseball in the summer and ice hockey in the winter. My love for other activities grew as well, and soon I was involved in soccer, softball, field hockey, volleyball, tennis, mountain biking and rock climbing. I liked to try anything, even taking up unicycling and archery. By having a background in a large variety of sports, I feel like I have a lot to offer and the experience to teach it effectively.
I would not be where I am today without the support of my family. As a young child, I was surrounded by siblings to play with and parents who wanted to give their children every opportunity possible to explore the world we live in. I realize that many children don’t have the support that I had. Because of this reason, as a teacher I want to instill in each of my students the confidence and ability to achieve the unattainable.
As a young teacher, I am always looking for ways to improve what I do. I aspire to make a simple and mundane task more interesting and exciting to bring students together and challenge them to think and grow. Since a young child I have had an adventurous side, always eager to learn and try different things. Now, as a teacher I carry that same attitude. I am not afraid to introduce new ideas in the classroom and offer alternative activities.

What I Like To Do
